Privacy notice.
How Resident.Place handles your information, in plain English. This matters to us, because a home is personal.
This is a plain-English summary for the marketing site while the full notice completes legal review. The version in the app and provided by your provider is the definitive one.
Who we are
Resident.Place is a neutral app used by residents across several housing providers. It is operated by Affordable Homes For Life Ltd (company number 16640653), registered at 124-128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. Your housing provider is a separate organisation that looks after your tenancy, rent account and repairs.
For most of the information in the app, you and your provider are the people it belongs to. We provide the app and keep it secure. Where the law calls for it, we act as a data processor for your provider, and as a controller for the small amount of information we need to run the app itself.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, contact details and the resident ID your provider issues, so we can sign you in and link you to your home.
- Things you do in the app — repairs and reports you raise, payments you make, documents you open and messages you send.
- Device and usage information — basic technical data that keeps the app working and secure, and helps us fix problems.
We ask for no more than we need, and we do not ask you to create a public profile.
Why we use it
- To sign you in securely and link you to the right home and provider.
- To let you pay rent, report repairs, read documents and get support.
- To pass what you send to the right team at your provider so they can act on it.
- To keep the app secure, reliable and accessible, and to improve it responsibly.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
You and your provider
Because Resident.Place is shared across providers, it is important to be clear: your information stays with you and your provider. Nothing is shared between providers. If you move to a different provider that uses Resident.Place, you receive a fresh invite for your new home, and your new account is separate.
Who we share information with
We share your information only where it is needed to run the service:
- Your housing provider and their teams, so they can act on your requests.
- Trusted suppliers who help us run the app securely, under contract and only on our instructions.
- Authorities, where the law requires it, or to protect someone’s safety.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as you have an account and your provider needs it to manage your tenancy, and then only as long as the law requires. When it is no longer needed, we delete it securely.
Your rights
You have the right to see the information we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, and, in many cases, to ask us to delete it or limit how we use it. You can exercise these rights in the app or by asking support. Because your provider manages your tenancy data, some requests may be handled by them, and we will help route you to the right place.
If you are not happy with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator.
How to reach us
The quickest way is to message support in the app, or to ask through our support page. We do not publish an email address, so please use the form or the app. You can also change your cookie settings at any time.
